Recently, Oncocross, an AI-based drug development company, announced the launch of a global Phase 1 clinical trial for its investigational therapy OC514, aimed at treating muscle diseases, including sarcopenia. The press release noted that this is one of the first AI-driven investigational therapies for sarcopenia to enter clinical trials.
Sarcopenia is a disease characterized by the progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength, leading to the deterioration of normal bodily functions. Associated with aging, cancer, and other chronic diseases, sarcopenia reduces quality of life by weakening overall physical function and worsening disease prognosis. Currently, there are no approved drugs for the treatment of sarcopenia, making it a condition with significant unmet medical needs.
Oncocross's drug discovery platform is called RAPTOR AI, which utilizes an AI platform based on transcriptome data to discover innovative therapies, new indications for existing drugs, and indications for novel drug combinations.

After completing Phase 1 clinical trials, Oncocross plans to initiate Phase 2 clinical trials of OC514 for cancer patients with accompanying sarcopenia. The company stated that as no AI-developed drug has yet reached the Phase 2 clinical research stage globally, OC514 could be one of the fastest AI drugs in the world in terms of development speed.
