Novartis Oncology China Appoints Wang Wei as Interim Head of Hematology Business Following Xia Shaofei's Departure

On March 1, Isabel Afonso, General Manager of Novartis Oncology (China), announced a personnel change to the employees. Xia Shaofei, the current head of the Hematology Business Unit of Novartis Oncology (China), has decided to leave Novartis to pursue external career opportunities. Wang Wei, the current head of the North 1 Region of the Hematology Business Unit, will temporarily take over his position and comprehensively manage all work of the market team and promotion team within the Hematology Business Unit.

Shaofei Xia is a veteran employee of Novartis. As previously introduced by Big M, he also started as a pharmaceutical sales representative. He first studied at the School of Pharmacy, Shanghai Medical University, and then pursued graduate studies at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. In 2000, Xia Shaofei graduated and joined Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a pharmaceutical sales representative. Following a familiar path, he was promoted to senior representative and then marketing manager. In 2005, he left Novartis to seek external development opportunities and subsequently joined companies such as GSK, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, and B. Braun in marketing management roles.

In early 2018, Xia Shaofei returned to Novartis and served as the head of the metabolism product line and the marketing head of the Essential Health Business Division. In 2020, there were some changes in the leadership of the Solid Tumor Business Division and Hematology Business Division of Novartis Oncology (China) (for details, please refer to MRCLUB historical messages). On September 15 of the same year, Xia Shaofei was transferred from Novartis to Novartis Oncology to serve as the head of the Hematology Business Division.

Wang Wei graduated from the Pharmacy major at Shenyang Pharmaceutical University. He joined Novartis in 2015 and has held positions such as Brand Head of the Hematology Marketing Department at Novartis Oncology (China) and Regional Marketing Head. He is currently the Head of the North Region 1 for the Hematology Business Unit. Before joining Novartis Oncology, he served as Brand Manager and Senior Marketing Manager of the Central Nervous System Pipeline in the Strategic Marketing Department at Xi'an Janssen.

According to Dami's understanding, Xia Shaofei and Wang Wei will begin the handover of work from today. The position of the head of the Blood Business Division will start a public recruitment through internal and external channels.
