First Batch of Imported Paxlovid Arrives at Frontlines of COVID-19 Response in China

China Economic Net, March 20th — The reporter learned that the COVID-19 treatment drug PAXLOVID, a result of the cooperation between China Meheco and Pfizer, will arrive in Changchun City, Jilin Province today for use on the front lines of epidemic prevention.

PAXLOVID is an oral small-molecule COVID-19 treatment drug developed by Pfizer, used to treat adult patients with mild to moderate Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) who are at high risk of progressing to severe illness. On March 9, China Meheco Group Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with Pfizer to be responsible for the commercial operation of PAXLOVID in the Chinese market.

In the few days after signing the agreement, under the tight coordination of General Technology China Meheco, a batch of PAXLOVID, a treatment drug for the novel coronavirus, was air-freighted from Belgium and arrived at Shanghai Pudong Airport late at night on March 16. On March 18, after sampling and inspection by the Shanghai Drug Administration and Shanghai Zhangjiang Institute for Drug Control, and customs declaration coordinated by the airport customs and Waigaoqiao Bonded Area Customs, the batch of drugs successfully completed customs clearance. The next day (March 19), ensuring stable transportation and constant temperature storage conditions, the transportation team of General Technology China Meheco and all the drugs passed relevant quarantine procedures and were transported under closed-loop management to the Daxing Logistics Center of China Meheco Yongzheng Company.

Recently, the epidemic situation in many cities of Jilin Province has been severe, causing widespread concern. On the afternoon of the 19th, China Meheco Group Co., Ltd., under the General Technology Group, received relevant letters from the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council for Responding to the COVID-19 Epidemic (Medical Materials Assurance Group) and the Jilin Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, requesting the urgent dispatch of a batch of COVID-19 treatment drugs to support local anti-epidemic efforts. Having just completed the warehousing and inspection work, China Meheco Group immediately engaged in the task of adding drug traceability codes. At around 5 a.m. on the 20th, a special transport vehicle fully loaded with the COVID-19 treatment drug PAXLOVID departed from the Daxing Logistics Center of China Meheco Yongzheng Company, heading towards Changchun City, Jilin Province. This marked the full launch of the drug security operation by China Meheco Group under the General Technology Group to support the fight against the epidemic.

China Meheco Group Co., Ltd. revealed that the batch of drugs is expected to arrive in Changchun City, Jilin Province today and will be immediately sent to the front line of the epidemic prevention and control after arrival.
