Raymon Pharma

Innovative Ophthalmic Drug Developer

Recently, Suzhou Raymon Pharmaceuticals Company, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Raymon Pharma"), a leading domestic platform for the development of therapeutic small-molecule ophthalmic drugs, announced the completion of a billion-level financing round led by CR-CP Life Science Fund and participated by JINDING CAPITAL. Sanjiang Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor for this round of financing. This financing follows the company’s Series A+ round last year and marks another successful funding within just one year. The proceeds will mainly be used for IND applications and clinical exploration of multiple products, as well as the introduction of new projects, signifying that Raymon Pharma has reached a new milestone in ophthalmic drug research and development.

Raymon Pharma, located in the Biomedical Industry Park of Suzhou Industrial Park, is a company dedicated to the field of ophthalmic drugs, focusing on small-molecule innovative ophthalmic drugs. It has multiple sustainable innovative pipelines, with products involving various targets and mechanisms of action. The core team of the company comes from world-renowned pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis and Alcon, with each member having over 25 years of experience in new drug research and development, and having led the launch and out-licensing of multiple drugs.

The company owns a globally leading drug chemistry design platform in the field of drug penetration and treatment for ocular diseases, particularly those involving the fundus. Fundus diseases, which can be caused by various primary or secondary factors, are blinding conditions that pose a severe threat to human vision, such as wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal vein occlusion, and diabetic macular edema. Currently, all approved drugs for these diseases are invasive intravitreal antibody injections, which are expensive and have poor patient compliance. From the perspective of new drug development, exploring user-friendly and cost-effective methods of administration, such as eye drops, addresses an unmet clinical need and presents significant challenges. Therefore, the research and exploration of new treatments for fundus diseases face immense challenges and opportunities.

Currently, the company's product pipeline not only fully covers drug delivery technologies for fundus diseases, but also has multiple layouts in ocular surface diseases, with a rich and diverse R&D pipeline and a comprehensive and systematic technical platform. All of the company’s existing pipeline products are self-developed Class 1.1 new drugs, protected by multiple patents in various fields of ophthalmic diseases. The company will also introduce advanced ophthalmology projects from overseas, opening up greater growth opportunities for the future and achieving a dual-driven model.

Adhering to the concept of "Technology Benefits Health," the company strives to address unmet market needs, further expand new pipelines, achieve therapeutic effects on ophthalmic diseases, promote the development of innovative ophthalmic drugs, and bring light and hope to patients.

Dr. Zhang Fei, founder of Raymon Pharma, stated: "We are grateful for the recognition and support from these two outstanding investors in this round of financing. Having been engaged in ophthalmic drug development for many years, I have continuously followed the progress in this field. Due to the limited understanding of the mechanisms behind fundus diseases and the lack of safe drug delivery methods, innovative drug research and development for fundus diseases has always been a golden area with significant scientific challenges and urgent clinical needs globally. In recent years, with the pressing demand from clinical medicine for innovative treatments for blinding eye diseases, the R&D field for fundus diseases is experiencing exponential growth. Facing such a promising blue ocean market, Raymon Pharma is confident that, with the strong support of both new and existing shareholders, we will continue to pioneer in the field of innovative ophthalmic drugs, particularly in fundus diseases, and become a global leader."

Mr. Liu Da, Managing Director of CR-CP Life Science Fund, stated: "Visual health is one of the fields that China must focus on in the future, as it concerns every citizen. Therefore, visual health is one of the public health challenges in China. Developing drugs that are effective, relatively affordable, convenient for doctors to use, and have high patient compliance is an extremely challenging innovation. I am deeply moved by the perseverance of Dr. Zhang Fei and his team. Innovation and entrepreneurship carry significant risks, but for the sake of human visual health, we have no choice but to move forward. I wish the product’s clinical trials success and hope patients can receive treatment and recover as soon as possible."
