Genesis Therapeutics Announces $670 Million AI-Driven Drug Discovery Collaboration with Eli Lilly

Recently, Genesis Therapeutics announced a collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company to discover innovative therapies for up to five targets across multiple therapeutic areas using Genesis’ artificial intelligence (AI) drug discovery platform.

Genesis Therapeutics' molecular AI platform combines 3D structure-aware deep neural networks, novel molecular simulation techniques, and a highly scalable molecular generation engine. The company's technology is particularly well-suited for targeting previously undruggable or data-scarce targets. Dr. Evan Feinberg, the company's CEO, was named to Forbes’ “30 under 30” list in healthcare. In 2020, the company entered into a multi-target research collaboration with Genentech.

According to the agreement, scientists from Genesis Therapeutics and Eli Lilly and Company will jointly utilize Genesis’ AI drug discovery platform to develop potential “first-in-class” and “best-in-class” drug candidates targeting three specific targets. Genesis will receive an upfront payment of $20 million, and Eli Lilly has the option to add two additional targets. Genesis is eligible to receive up to a total of $670 million in upfront and milestone payments.
