MingMed Biotechnology's First-in-Class Dry AMD Drug QA102 Enters Phase II Clinical Trials in the U.S.

On May 16, 2022, MingMed Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "MingMed") announced that its research product – a first-in-class ophthalmic small molecule drug QA102 for dry age-related macular degeneration (Dry AMD) – has entered Phase II clinical trials in the United States and will soon begin dosing patients.

MingMed Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) Professor Wei Lai introduced: "Dry AMD is the largest blinding eye disease in developed societies and a stubborn ophthalmic condition with no available treatment worldwide. New drug projects for Dry AMD developed based on classic etiological theories such as complement inflammation have not succeeded to date. QA102, a small molecule drug developed by MingMed, is a First-in-Class innovative drug with complete independent intellectual property rights, based on a novel pathogenic mechanism. QA102 has completed Phase I clinical trials in the United States and has successfully advanced to Phase II clinical trials in the U.S., marking a new phase in MingMed's ophthalmic innovative drug development."
