Henlius Enters into Semi-Exclusive Licensing Agreement with Abbott for Hanlikang and Hanquyou in Brazil

On May 24, Shanghai Henlius Biotech, Inc. announced that it had entered into a product license agreement with Abbott. According to the agreement, Henlius grants Abbott a semi-exclusive license to commercialize Hanlikang and HANQUZYOU within the Federative Republic of Brazil, as well as a non-exclusive license for Abbott to act as a backup manufacturer or subcontract the production of licensed products.

Abbott will pay Shanghai Henlius Biotech, Inc. an upfront payment of $3 million upon the execution of the product license agreement, as well as regulatory milestone payments totaling up to $1.4 million based on the terms and conditions stipulated in the product license agreement.

Hanlikang (Rituximab Injection), independently developed by Shanghai Henlius Biotech, Inc., was approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for marketing in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions, hereinafter the same) in February 2019. As of the date of this announcement, the indications for Hanlikang cover (1) non-Hodgkin lymphoma, (2) chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and (3) rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Hanquyou (Trastuzumab for Injection, EU trade name: Zercepac) was independently developed by Shanghai Henlius Biotech, Inc. It received approval from the European Commission (EC) in July 2020 and from the NMPA in August 2020 for marketing in all EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and within China. As of the date of this announcement, the indications for Hanquyou cover (1) HER2-positive early breast cancer, (2) HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer, and (3) HER2-positive metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. The sales and promotion of Hanquyou® within China are led by Henlius' self-established commercialization team.
