On June 5, at the American Diabetes Association's annual scientific meeting, Dr. Robert Vigersky, Chief Medical Officer of Medtronic's diabetes business, described Medtronic's insulin delivery closed-loop system—commonly referred to as an artificial pancreas. The system can monitor the user's glucose levels and automatically adjust insulin as needed, without much input from the wearer.

Medtronic's closed-loop system starts with Medtronic's insulin pump and glucose sensor, combined with the latest version of the MiniMed 780G and Guardian 4 sensor. This management system has been proven to help users stay within the ideal blood glucose range for an average of 73% of the day, and even longer if patients use the system-recommended settings.
