Takeda Submits NDA in China for Teduglutide, the First GLP-2 Analog for Short Bowel Syndrome

On June 23, the CDE website showed that Takeda's GLP-2 analog Teduglutide for injection had been submitted for marketing approval in China. Teduglutide is the first GLP-2 analog to be submitted for marketing approval in China.

SBS is a disease caused by partial or complete surgical removal of the small intestine and/or large intestine. Significant loss of the small intestine can lead to malabsorption of fluids and nutrients necessary for sustaining life. Teduglutide was first approved in the EU in 2012, followed by approvals in the United States and Japan, for the treatment of adult Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS).
