Innovative Device R&D Manufacturer in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Fields

SuzhouAugust 9, 2022PR Newswire -- SyMap (Suzhou) Medical Technology Co., Ltd. ("SyMap"), a company focused on treating major cardiovascular and respiratory diseases with disruptive innovative interventional devices, is advancing the development of its Precisely Controlled, Hypertonic Solution Assisted RF System for treating early-stage lung tumors via bronchoscopy. This system can precisely control the ablation area/volume caused by radiofrequency energy in lung tumor-affected regions and remove lesions. As an internationally pioneering solution, it addresses the significant technical challenge where poor electrical conductivity of lung tissue makes it difficult for radiofrequency to create effective and controllable ablation volumes, thereby enhancing the efficacy and safety of radiofrequency treatment for lung tumors. SyMap has made substantial contributions to this product’s development, from concept establishment/validation, prototype manufacturing/finalization, patent portfolio construction, animal experiments, clinical trial design, to the First-in-Human (FIH) study. Zidan Medical Inc., co-founded with Coridea LLC, a renowned medical technology think tank/incubator based in New York, USA, and dedicated to the development of this system, has completed clinical validation trials in Australia. Recently, SyMap has injected additional R&D funds into Zidan Medical Inc., further accelerating the development of this disruptive innovation technology and its progression into pivotal trials.

Coridea LLC was founded by Mr. Mark Gelfand and Dr. Howard Levin, based on the inventions of their team.Major Medical Technology, has incubated more than a dozen renowned medical device companies, such as MitraClip mitral valve repair system and Ardian Inc, the pioneer in renal denervation, bringing returns of over 1 billion US dollars to investors. Coridea LLC has also co-founded the Deerfield Device Design and Development Catalyst with Deerfield Management, a well-known American investment firm, focusing on launching disruptive medical technologies and accelerating clinical application and commercialization. The long-term cooperation between "SyMap" and Coridea LLC can be traced back to the experience of the founders of the two entities working together at Columbia University in the United States.

"SyMap" is an internationally leading company focused on developing innovative device products for treating major diseases in the cardiovascular and respiratory fields. Its lead product, a renal nerve mapping/selective ablation system for treating hypertension, is expected to be approved for marketing by the end of 2023. Another innovative medical device product of the company, a radiofrequency ablation system (Elation) for interventional treatment of severe asthma,®) will complete its clinical registration trial (BATA Study, NCT03765307) this year. The leading research institution and investigator is Professor Li Shiyue from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University/Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases. It is expected to be launched in 2024. At the end of 2021, "SyMap" completed a nearly 100-million-dollar funding round led by Primavera Capital/VMS Group.
