AstraZeneca Appoints Former Novartis Executive Liu Ming as New Vice President for China Oncology Business

After being vacant for more than two months, the head of AstraZeneca's Lung Cancer Treatment and Tumor Immunotherapy Division has finally been determined!

Recently, AstraZeneca announced the appointment of Liu Ming as Vice President of AstraZeneca China, Head of the Lung Cancer and Immuno-Oncology Business Units under the Oncology Division. He will also join the China Management Team and report directly to Chen Kangwei, General Manager of AstraZeneca's Oncology Division, effective August 30.

Looking back at Liu Ming's career experience, he has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceuticals industry.

In 2000, Liu Ming graduated from the Pharmacy major at China Pharmaceutical University and joined Zhongxin Pharmaceuticals as an international trade representative. He subsequently held various positions at AstraZeneca and Fresenius Kabi.

In January 2009, Liu Ming joined Novartis China as a Senior Brand Manager. Two years later, he left Novartis to join Janssen, where he served as Marketing Manager, Product Director, Deputy Marketing Director, and Head of the Solid Tumor Business Unit, among other roles. Since 2019, he has been serving as the Head of Janssen's Hematology Business Unit.

In December 2020, Liu Ming left Janssen to return to Novartis, serving as Vice President of Novartis Oncology and Head of the Solid Tumor Division, overseeing areas including breast cancer, lung cancer, melanoma, neuroendocrine tumors, and rare diseases.

Notably, on June 9 this year, Zhu Jiakang, former Vice President of AstraZeneca China and head of the business unit related to lung cancer targeted therapy and tumor immunotherapy, officially resigned.

In July, Novartis announced that Jia Kang Zhu would join Novartis as the Head of the Oncology Therapeutic Area for Novartis Innovative Drugs China, and become a member of the Innovative Drugs China Management Team, reporting to Ying Zhang, President and Managing Director of Novartis Innovative Drugs China, effective from July 12.
