Boston Scientific Launches Roadshow for Domestically Produced Polaris Intravascular Ultrasound System in China

ShanghaiSeptember 20, 2022PR Newswire -- Recently, at the Yangtze River Song Academic Week Functional and Imaging High-Level Forum, the Boston Scientific intravascular ultrasound system Polaris (hereinafter referred to as "Polaris") touring launch event officially commenced. This is the latest initiative by Boston Scientific to deepen the local market coverage of Polaris following its localization in China. The touring launch event will cover 11 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions along the Yangtze River within four days, featuring a rolling broadcast of precision PCI surgeries across regions such as the Yangtze River Delta, Central China, Southwest China, and the source of the Yangtze River. It aims to promote percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and benefit more Chinese patients with coronary heart disease.

It is estimated that there are approximately 330 million people currently suffering from cardiovascular diseases in China, including up to 11.39 million with coronary heart disease.^[1], the number of PCIs for the treatment of coronary heart disease is also rising. The Polaris, launched at this roadshow, is an intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) system used for precise PCI treatment. It employs classic mechanical rotational imaging technology and an innovative 60 MHz composite transducer, offering a more convenient operation experience and clearer imaging results to help doctors formulate more appropriate interventional treatment plans. Additionally, using IVUS can better reduce the probability of patients experiencing recurrent myocardial infarction or revascularization. This not only further improves the success rate of PCI and the postoperative prognosis of patients but also, in the long term, alleviates the economic burden on both hospitals and patients, presenting greater health economic advantages.^[2]。
