Preventing Hepatitis E Requires Good Personal Hygiene

In recent years, the reported incidence rate of hepatitis E has ranked first among acute viral hepatitis. Hepatitis E is a contagious disease characterized primarily by liver damage. According to the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention, hepatitis E is mainly transmitted through the fecal-oral route, and most cases are acute self-limiting diseases. In the early stage of the disease, symptoms such as persistent fever, general fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting may occur for several days. Some patients may also experience jaundice of the skin and sclera, abdominal pain, itching, rash, or joint pain, and a few cases can lead to liver failure.

Preventing Hepatitis E primarily involves maintaining good personal hygiene and dietary habits, such as washing hands before meals and after using the restroom, avoiding raw water and uncooked food, ensuring that food—especially seafood or pork (including offal)—is thoroughly cooked, and properly disinfecting tableware. Additionally, prevention can now be enhanced through vaccination against Hepatitis E.

Coping with Anxiety: Accepting Your Imperfect Self First

Anxiety is the most common psychological disorder. Bai Yong, director of the Department of Medical Psychology at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University, suggests that if you are feeling anxious, irritable, or full of doubts at this moment, acknowledge these feelings and be more tolerant and kind to yourself. Once you accept yourself and your feelings as they are, you can naturally relax, freeing yourself from being entangled by negative emotions.

Many times, anxiety disorders can make people feel a loss of control over themselves. Instead, it is better to keep a daily record of the time of anxiety attacks, their duration, symptoms, and severity, in order to achieve self-awareness, self-encouragement, and self-control. Seek out psychiatrists, psychotherapists, or counselors, and ask them for professional advice to help you get rid of the trouble caused by anxiety symptoms as soon as possible.

【Scientific Diet】
When dining at a restaurant, you can request less oil and salt in advance.

Planning is also required when dining out to ensure a balanced diet. The Nutrition and Health Institute of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends not neglecting staple foods, avoiding single staple foods, and opting for staples containing whole grains, including coarse cereals or mixed beans. Allocate the ratio of meat dishes to vegetable dishes based on the number of diners; for group dining, order vegetable dishes first and pair them with meat dishes in a 3:1 to 2:1 ratio. Whenever possible, replace livestock and poultry meat with fish and bean products, and avoid fried foods.

When dining out, you can inform the restaurant in advance of your request for less oil, less salt, less sugar, and to be served with plain water. If the dishes are too greasy, you can rinse them with plain water. In addition, decide the number of dishes to order based on the portion size, and opt for smaller portions. This not only helps avoid excessive energy intake but also prevents unnecessary waste.

Staying Up Late May Increase the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

"Experimental Physiology" published a study finding that people who stay up late have a reduced ability to use fat for energy, which means that fat may accumulate in the body and increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Researchers used advanced imaging techniques to assess body weight and composition, as well as insulin sensitivity, and respiratory samples to measure fat and carbohydrate metabolism. The results showed that compared with "night owls," "early birds" consume more fat as energy when at rest and during exercise, and they are also more sensitive to insulin. "Night owls" exhibit insulin resistance, meaning their bodies require more insulin to lower blood sugar levels, and they also prefer carbohydrates over fats as an energy source.

New Therapy for Multiple Myeloma Approved for Clinical Use

The official website of the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) shows that mezigdomide (CC-92480) capsules, a Class 1 new drug submitted by Celgene Corporation under Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (BMS), have received tacit approval for clinical trials. The drug is intended to be developed for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. This is a CELMoD molecule based on protein degradation therapy developed by BMS, which has already entered Phase 3 clinical trials overseas.

CELMoD, a protein degradation therapy molecule, is a novel compound developed by Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) based on the multiple myeloma treatments pomalidomide and lenalidomide. Data shows that when used in combination with two other standard therapies for the treatment of refractory multiple myeloma patients, it achieved an objective response rate of 73.7% and a median duration of response of 10.4 months.
