Reports indicate that benign prostatic hyperplasia affects 50% of men over the age of 50, and this proportion rises to 90% in men over 80. Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a troublesome issue for anyone, with hundreds of thousands of men seeking various treatment options for it each year.

Currently, commonly used treatment options for benign prostatic hyperplasia include behavioral management or watchful waiting, medication therapy, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), and Rezūm therapy, a transurethral water vapor ablation treatment.
