Boston Scientific "Kirin" Series Single-Use Injection Radiofrequency Electrode

The "Kirin" series of electrodes innovatively combines three instruments – a cannula, an electrode, and an injection port – into one, greatly simplifying surgical steps, improving surgical efficiency, and enhancing precision while reducing the risks associated with instrument exchanges during surgery. Among this series, the "Super Kirin" electrode builds on the "three-in-one" feature by utilizing cutting-edge "black technology" at the electrode tip to enhance visibility under ultrasound. This allows doctors to perform surgeries without relying on CT/X-ray imaging assistance or DSA operating rooms. The "Super Kirin" enables doctors to complete radiofrequency ablation procedures in outpatient settings, providing both doctors and patients with a green, economical, and convenient treatment option.

Thanks to multiple innovative technologies, "Kirin" has gained recognition from numerous clinical experts and is hailed as a revolutionary tool for traditional neuro-radiofrequency surgery, ushering in "Second-Generation Neuro Radiofrequency"Times."

Chairman of the Pain Society of the Chinese Medical AssociationZhang Daying"The director stated: 'Technological innovation and equipment innovation are important guarantees for the improvement of clinical treatment technology levels. They are also the continuous pursuit of clinical doctors. Boston Scientific always adheres to the concept of innovation, striving to provide operators and patients with more convenient, efficient, and safer new products.'"

Chairman of the Pain Management Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor AssociationFan BifaThe director said, "Boston Scientific's 'Kirin' series of electrodes integrates the electrode and cannula into one unit, reducing the steps and time required for surgical puncture positioning, significantly improving both the clinical workflow and patient experience."

Second-Generation Neuro RF Electrode Facilitates the Popularization of Neuro RF Ablation Therapy

"China's Pain Medicine Development Report (2020)" [1] shows that the number of chronic pain patients in China exceeds 300 million, and the patient population is growing at a rate of 10 to 20 million per year. Chronic pain has become the third major health issue following cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and cancer. Spinal pain, joint pain, neuropathic pain represented by diabetic foot neuralgia and postherpetic neuralgia, and other types of pain problems have long troubled patients' daily lives. Radiofrequency neurotomy has proven to be an effective treatment for these conditions. The innovative "Kirin" product reduces surgical difficulty, enhances operational efficiency, promotes the application of this technique across more departments—such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, and pain management—and allows the technology to reach more patients suffering from pain.

To ensure that this series of innovative products better assists clinical practice, in April this year, Boston Scientific reached a strategic cooperation with Fujifilm Sonosite, the leader in portable ultrasound, combining the "Kirin" series of electrodes with Fujifilm Sonosite's ultrasound visualization technology to provide the first complete ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation solution for pain management and rehabilitation disciplines in China.

Ms. Zhang Jun, President of Boston Scientific Greater China, stated: "The launch of the 'Kirin' series of electrodes is exciting on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Boston Scientific's entry into China, further enriching our product portfolio in the field of neuromodulation. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with industry peers to accelerate the clinical adoption of world-leading solutions, support the development of pain management and rehabilitation disciplines in China, and help more patients overcome the burden of chronic pain and pain associated with peripheral neuropathy."
