After Six Years on the Market, Established the "Gold Standard" for Continuous Glucose Monitoring in China
As the world's leading continuous glucose monitoring technology, Abbott's FreeStyle Libre flash glucose monitoring system revolutionizes traditional blood sugar testing by enabling "blood sugar measurement without finger pricks" and ushering in a new era of digital management with "scan-to-measure blood sugar" via smartphones. The system connects the smart sensor "small disc" to the FreeStyle Libre app on a smartphone, providing real-time glucose readings, glucose trend curves, historical data, and more for up to 14 days, helping users easily manage their blood sugar anytime, anywhere. A large-scale observational study by the UK Clinical Diabetes Experts Association on FreeStyle Libre users showed that those with significant improvements in TIR (time in range) not only achieved better HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) control but also experienced fewer hypoglycemic episodes, reduced diabetes-related psychological distress, and less utilization of diabetes-related healthcare resources. Results from a health economics research report released by Chinese experts showed: for T1DM and T2DM patients on insulin therapy, compared with SMBG (self-monitoring of blood glucose), flash CGM is more cost-effective. In October this year, Abbott's FreeStyle Libre flash glucose monitoring system was awarded the "Golden Jubilee Award" by the Galien Foundation. This award recognizes outstanding scientific innovations that have contributed to improving human health since the foundation's establishment in 1970. FreeStyle Libre won the gold medal in the Best Medical Technology category. Currently, the lives of approximately 4.5 million people across more than 60 countries worldwide have benefited from it.
This year marks the sixth anniversary of FreeStyle Libre's launch in China. From the first technology in the Chinese market that allows "blood sugar testing without finger pricks," to the introduction of the FreeStyle Libre H hospital solution tailored for Chinese hospitals, and further to the digitalization with the FreeStyle LibreLink app enabling "scan with your phone to measure glucose" and the connected FreeStyle LibreLinkUp app, Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre family of products continues to expand and improve in China.
Professor Feng Bo from Oriental Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University stated: "China is the world's largest diabetes country, and all-day, scientific blood glucose monitoring is an effective means to manage diabetes well. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), as a breakthrough technology, can help patients and doctors scientifically and precisely control blood glucose, enhancing diabetes management. Abbott's FreeStyle Libre has set the gold standard for continuous glucose monitoring technology in China, and it is expected that this technology will benefit more Chinese patients and medical institutions in the future."
To provide more convenient services and benefit more patients, in addition to e-commerce platforms, Abbott currently collaborates with offline pharmacies and hospitals, supporting the establishment of hundreds of standardized continuous glucose monitoring demonstration and standard units. The FreeStyle Libre system serves over 500,000 Chinese users, supporting Chinese medical institutions in achieving scientific and standardized discipline development, enabling an increasing number of Chinese patients to meet their diabetes management needs, and helping people live healthier and better lives.

For out-of-hospital scenarios, on the basis of a robust full-channel collaboration with Sinopharm Group, the Jiuzhou Tong supply chain has been introduced. Establish the "Abbott Libre Interpretation Center" to enhance the integration of online and offline services, providing consumers with more comprehensive and timely support, setting a new benchmark for chronic disease management. For in-hospital scenarios, "empowering standardized discipline construction in medical institutions," we are committed to high-level industry development, allowing more diabetes patients to enjoy a high-quality life.

Professor Feng Bo stated: "Scanning CGM currently has substantial evidence across multiple dimensions of diabetes management, demonstrating superior clinical benefits. Abbott, leveraging digital technology, is building an ecosystem for inpatient, outpatient, and home diabetes management, which will greatly enhance health benefits for patients."
During the CIIE, Abbott will continue to make efforts, exploring innovative businesses through multiple channels, both online and offline, in cooperation with Sinopharm and others. It will also carry out diverse collaborations with partners such as Yilin and the Red Cross Foundation of China, continuously expanding the digital diabetes management ecosystem while delivering cutting-edge technology with care and high-quality services. Among these initiatives, Abbott will collaborate with Boao Yilin on "pilot" projects to accelerate the introduction of new technologies into China, benefiting more patients. The company will actively explore new pathways for the digital development of diabetes patient health management, supporting the construction and upgrading of China's health industry.
