"Radiant""New" Departure, Yearly Adding "New Chinese Identity"
The CIIE is an important measure for China to promote higher-level opening-up and also a key platform for enterprises to share development opportunities in China. Over the past five years, the CIIE has become the launching pad and gathering place for global innovative products and cutting-edge technologies. At this year’s CIIE, GSK showcased an innovative therapy making its debut in China.——An Innovative Long-Acting Treatment Regimen (Cabotegravir Injection + Rilpivirine Injection) for Adult HIV-1 Patients with Virologic Suppression. This two-monthly injection regimen matches the safety and efficacy of the current standard daily oral treatment, helping patients overcome the pressure of daily medication and significantly improving their quality of life.
Over the past five years, GSK has also witnessed and benefited from the "spillover" effect of the CIIE, with multiple globally leading innovative products showcased at the event gaining accelerated approval, market launch, and access in China. These products have transitioned "from exhibits to commodities" and "from first display to first availability," continuously renewing their "new identity in China" while benefiting an increasing number of Chinese patients and populations.
The global first approved and marketed targeted human anti-interleukin-5 (IL-5) monoclonal antibody, Nucala (Mepolizumab Injection), which once again took the stage at this year’s CIIE, is a successful case of the CIIE effect. Two weeks after its debut at the 2021 CIIE, Nucala received approval from the National Medical Products Administration for the treatment of adult patients with eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), and issued its first prescription in July this year, rapidly transitioning from "first exhibit" to "first prescription."
In addition, the heavyweights of GSK, which have been exhibited for many consecutive years, also took the stage at this year's CIIE with new indications "returning home," including Benlysta (Belimumab for Injection), an innovative biologic newly approved for lupus nephritis; Shingrix, the recombinant zoster vaccine that has won the "Prix Galien Award" three times and is currently the only one of its kind available in China; and the product with newly expanded indications extended to stable switching HIV patients.Single-pill dual-drug HIV treatment regimenDovato (Lamivudine and Dolutegravir Tablets), etc.
United Beyond,Building a Health and Wellness "Community"
In recent years, the Chinese government has placed "safeguarding people's health" as a top priority in its development strategy. GSK China has actively responded to the call, leveraging the strong appeal of the CIIE to collaborate with various partners. Together, they continuously expand the regional and demographic coverage of innovative products and solutions, jointly contributing to Healthy China.
Over the past five years, GSK has launched multiple collaborative projects on the CIIE platform in partnership with local governments and health systems, including "Happy Breathing," "New Breathing," and the "Yinchuan Digital Management Project for COPD Patients." These initiatives aim to advance disease prevention and support grassroots healthcare development. Additionally, GSK has engaged in "Internet + Healthcare" strategic partnerships with various platforms to enhance personal health management and improve access to medical services.
During this year's CIIE, GSK will also reach a series of new collaborations and projects with multiple institutions and organizations, including the China Medical Health Development Foundation, the China Association for Geriatric Care, the Jiangsu Preventive Medicine Association/Jiangsu Maternal and Child Health Research Association, and the China STD/AIDS Prevention and Control Association, to continuously support healthy aging, promote high-quality development of the health industry, and jointly build a global health community.
