Building a Health Defense Line with Innovative Technology
ShanghaiNovember 7, 2022PR Newswire -- At the fifth China International Import Expo, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology showcased its comprehensive stroke solution, including EmboTrap.®III Distal Closed Double-Layer Mesh Basket Thrombectomy Stent, EmboVac®Intracranial Thrombus Aspiration Catheter, Cerebase®DA Neurointervention Dedicated Long Sheath Three "China Firsts". These innovative solutions will be committed to providing faster, more precise, and efficient treatment for stroke patients, advancing the level of stroke diagnosis and treatment in China to a new stage.
"Johnson & Johnson Medical Technologies has long been committed to the field of stroke intervention, adhering to the empowerment of industry development through innovative and cutting-edge technologies. We collaborate with all parties to optimize and enhance the standards and quality of stroke diagnosis and treatment," said Dr. Chen Xi, General Manager of the Cardiovascular and Specialty Solutions Division of Johnson & Johnson Medical Technologies in China. "We look forward to accelerating product introduction through this CIIE, enabling more patients to access high-quality medical services, building a strong fortress for more patients, and illuminating the hope of life."
Innovation Sharing: New Stroke Solutions Boost Quality and Efficiency in Stroke Treatment
Cerebrovascular disease has now become the leading cause of death among Chinese nationals, with stroke being the disease with the highest single-category disability rate.[1]. As the "number one killer" of people's health in China, stroke has imposed a heavy burden on countless families and the healthcare system. Once a stroke occurs, especially for acute ischemic stroke with a higher incidence, within 6-16 hours[2]Performing thrombectomy is key to improving prognosis. Clearly, treating stroke is a "life-and-death race" against time.
In order to help doctors and patients gain an early advantage in the fight against stroke, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology has introduced a comprehensive stroke surgery solution at this exhibition, covering everything from access creation to rapid thrombectomy. Among these, EmboTrap®III is a new option for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke. As a distal closed double-layer stent retriever, EmboTrap®III, with its unique distal closure structure, double-layer basket open-loop design, and clear stent visibility, can be used for the treatment of patients with acute ischemic stroke.

In addition to stent thrombectomy, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technologies has also launched another breakthrough innovative product — EmboVac.®Intracranial Thrombus Aspiration Catheter. Unlike the mechanism of stent thrombectomy, it works by delivering the catheter along the blood vessel to the thrombus site and then using suction-generated negative pressure to remove the thrombus. Within the blood vessel, EmboVac®Just like a powerful "vacuum cleaner",Can quickly remove blood clots in cerebral blood vessels, restore blood flow, and can also be used in conjunction with a thrombectomy stent to address limitations during the treatment process, saving more patients' lives.

In the interventional treatment of stroke, faced with structurally complex cerebral blood vessels, quickly establishing a stable access is a precondition for the success of the surgery. Cerebase® The emergence of DA has provided strong support for the "pathway construction" in interventional surgeries. This is a high-tech product used for building access in neurointerventional procedures, featuring a large lumen, robust support, and high placement accuracy. It can quickly establish intracranial vascular access, allowing subsequent treatment devices to pass through smoothly and reach the lesion site rapidly, saving precious treatment time for more stroke patients with complex conditions.

Collaborating for Health, Promoting Standardization of Diagnosis and Treatment, Supporting the Construction of a High-Quality Healthcare System
In addition to innovative products, Johnson & Johnson also showcased its contributions and achievements in the year since announcing support for the great vision of common prosperity. In the field of stroke, this September, the "Stroke Diagnosis and Treatment Capacity Enhancement Project," initiated by the National Health Commission's Hospital Management Research Institute and supported by Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology, aims to significantly enhance the overall capabilities of middle-aged and young doctors as well as municipal hospitals and county medical centers in serving stroke patients, and improve the diagnosis and treatment abilities for acute and severe stroke cases, allowing a large number of patients to access convenient, accessible, and high-quality medical resources. The project adopts a standardized and systematic neurointerventional talent development model, promoting the growth and development of middle-aged and young medical professionals and frontline healthcare workers through a closed-loop training mechanism that integrates "teaching-learning-competition-research." In the first year, the project is expected to cover 50 hospitals and reach 300 middle-aged and young doctors and medical workers.
In the future, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology will continue to invest in innovative research and development, allowing more patients to benefit from internationally leading treatment solutions; at the same time, it will further promote the accessibility of quality medical resources at the grassroots level in China, actively support frontline empowerment, and enhance the availability of innovative stroke solutions, thereby benefiting a wide range of patients and driving the vigorous development of China's neurointervention industry, strengthening the health foundation for common prosperity.
