At the fifth CIIE, Novartis showcased several "world's only" or "world’s first" products targeting major disease areas, including cutting-edge radioligand therapy. Radioligand therapy combines radioactive isotopes with targeted molecules, which, after intravenous injection, specifically bind to biomarkers expressed on the surface of target cells, locating tumor lesions throughout the body, emitting radiation to precisely kill target cells while causing limited damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
