BrainCo

Non-invasive brain-computer interface technology solution provider

On November 7, "New Patterns in the Brain-Machine World—BrainCo's 2022 Annual Product Launch" was held in Shanghai. BrainCo, China's first brain-computer interface unicorn, announced the exciting news that its products had received FDA certification and unveiled its new sleep product.

Brain-Computer Interface Unicorn Raises Over $200 Million

At the beginning of the press conference, Han Bicheng, founder and CEO of BrainCo, recounted the hundred-year history of brain-computer interfaces to the guests present and the online audience. In 1924, Hans Berger recorded brain electrical signals for the first time, marking the start of the history of brain-computer interfaces. However, the explosion of the brain-computer interface industry occurred in the past two decades. Since 2013, many countries and regions such as the United States, the European Union, and Canada have successively initiated national brain projects. China has also listed brain science and brain-like research as key technologies to be tackled in the "14th Five-Year Plan." In 2015, BrainCo was founded with a focus on non-invasive brain-computer interface research and development, a year earlier than Elon Musk's well-known establishment of Neuralink.

These two companies are both brain-computer interface companies with financing exceeding 200 million US dollars, and BrainCo is the first unicorn in the brain-computer interface field in China.

Currently the only intelligent bionic hand in China to have received FDA certification

At the press conference, Han Bicheng announced that after 20 months of relentless efforts, countless days and nights of work by dozens of engineers, and dozens of professional tests, the intelligent bionic hand developed by the company had obtained FDA certification. This is an important milestone in the history of brain-computer interfaces and the only non-invasive brain-computer interface product to have received FDA certification, representing global recognition of the application of non-invasive brain-computer interface technology. This intelligent bionic hand, due to its advanced brain-computer fusion technology, has been featured on the cover of TIME Magazine and was named the most recent invention of the year.

Han Bicheng also revealed that the next generation of intelligent bionic hands is currently under development. The focus will be on optimizing the appearance and weight, making it look more realistic and feel more comfortable to wear. More importantly, the next generation of intelligent bionic hands will incorporate sensory feedback functionality, allowing users to feel the softness, hardness, warmth, and coldness of objects.

Sleep New Product That Tops the Tmall Category Bestseller List for Consecutive Years

BrainCo Strong Brain Technology Released Their First C-end Product - DeepSea Dolphin (Easleep) Sleep Device. The product focuses on current hot sleep issues, based on its powerful precise electroencephalogram (EEG) and human body signal detection technology, combined with CES physical sleep aid, binaural beats, multi-layered sound waves, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). Through artificial intelligence algorithms, it provides users with a comprehensive solution for sleep problems. Upon its release, the product repeatedly topped the Tmall "Sleep Device Bestseller List."

Solution for Sleep Problems: Huang Zhili, Chairman of the Chinese Sleep Research Society and Professor at Fudan University, provided an in-depth analysis of the advantages of CES (Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation) in addressing sleep issues. CES has no risk of addiction or dependency associated with drugs, obtained FDA approval in the 1970s, and currently has no reported adverse effects or safety concerns—ensuring both safety and efficacy. Additionally, he revealed that globally, 300 million people face sleep problems, with average sleep duration decreasing by 1.5 hours over the past decade. Among them, 64.75% sleep less than 8 hours. "Currently, treatments for insomnia mainly include psychological, pharmaceutical, physical, traditional Chinese medicine, and comprehensive therapies."

Smart Bionic Leg for Rock Climbing

At the press conference, Xiao Lin, who has a physical disability, completed rock climbing wearing BrainCo's intelligent bionic leg. Wang Shi, chairman of Vanke, appeared via video at the press conference and witnessed Xiao Lin accomplishing this seemingly impossible task. Wang Shi, who is passionate about sports, called on everyone to pay attention to people with disabilities and the disabled community. He encouraged and supported the disabled to engage in sports such as rowing and rock climbing.

In addition, in response to the needs of parents of children with autism, BrainCo has launched the home version of the "Starfruit Brain-Computer Interface Social Communication System." This product provides social function training for families of children with autism and integrates thousands of neurofeedback training courses. BrainCo announced the initiation of the "Lighting Stars, Hundreds, Thousands, and Millions Action" plan. "BrainCo hereby commits to donating 100 sets of the Starfruit brain-computer interface products to the Aier Charity Foundation, supporting 100 young children from low-income families across China, helping them achieve optimal early intervention results, and thereby increasing societal attention, support, and deep acceptance for the autistic community."

At the end of the press conference, Han Bicheng boldly predicted, "With the continuous breakthroughs in sensor algorithms, non-invasive brain-computer interface technology will profoundly impact humanity. In the future, the number of our brain-computer devices may even surpass the number of mobile phones."
