Boston Scientific

Medical Device Manufacturer

At the Fifth CIIE being held in Shanghai, two achievements of Boston Scientific's "localization strategy" made their debut, including a product that has transitioned from an "imported exhibit to domestically produced" — the "Polaris Intravascular Ultrasound System," and another product, Boston Scientific's first medical device truly researched and developed in China and produced in China — the "Rongyi" disposable radiofrequency ablation electrode.

The CIIE actively advocates "turning exhibits into commodities and exhibitors into investors." "By leveraging the international cooperation platform effect of the CIIE, we continue to expand our local circle of friends, integrate into China's medical and health ecosystem, and accelerate the introduction of global innovative achievements to the Chinese market," Zhang Jun, President of Boston Scientific Greater China, told the China News Service. "The past four years that the CIIE has been getting better and better have also been the four years when Boston Scientific’s localization has been improving and accelerating.”

Benefiting from the "CIIE effect," many innovative products showcased by Boston Scientific at the CIIE have transformed from exhibits into commercial products. For instance, the Rezūm Thermal Vapor Therapy Device and the Rezūm System, a disposable device for prostate thermal vapor therapy, received approval in China this year and have been put into clinical use. Their market launch was expedited by one and a half to two years compared to the conventional process. Additionally, three other previous CIIE exhibits are on the fast track for market entry, with the potential to enter the Chinese market ahead of schedule.

This year, Boston Scientific registered and established Boston Scientific Medical Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., accelerating the pace of transforming from an exhibitor to an investor. Zhang Jun said: "We will firmly move forward in the direction of continuously deepening our local presence, comprehensively increasing our localization efforts in various dimensions such as R&D, introduction, production, and professional education. We aim to coexist and grow with China's local medical ecosystem to better meet the unmet needs of Chinese patients and doctors, and contribute to the realization of the Healthy China 2030 strategic goals."

Thermo Fisher Scientific at this CIIE for various types ofDiseaseThe research, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment have brought diversified solutions. It is worth mentioning that the company has set up a special exhibition area for achievements at the CIIE, detailing its years-long continuous in-depth localization layout in China, and its journey of partnering with local players to drive innovation and social sustainability.

Relying on the fruitful achievements of Thermo Fisher's continuous acceleration of localization in recent years, at the scene of this year’s CIIE, Thermo Fisher announced that it would complete the local mass production of the Axia ChemiSEM scanning electron microscope within the year. The localization of this product not only incorporates many "Chinese elements" into its functional design but also will be more in line with the habits of local users, further meeting customer demands for high-performance medical products made in China.

Thermo Fisher China President Feng Shihan said: "China is Thermo Fisher's second largest market globally, and our innovative DNA has been deeply embedded in the localization development. Relying on the open and efficient platform effect of CIIE, we look forward to establishing deeper connections with Chinese partners, and continuously deepening our localized strategy of 'Rooted in China, Serving China.' While continuously introducing leading innovative achievements into China, we will further improve the industrial ecosystem and empower local innovation to go global."

Diversified Medical TechnologyEnterpriseBaxter Medical globally premiered the ROTURM electric anti-decubitus cushion at the 5th CIIE, and three new continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) ready-to-use replacement fluids also made their debut in China.

"We hope these new products can quickly enter the Chinese market through the platform of the CIIE." Said Runhong Xu, President of Baxter Healthcare Greater China: "Baxter will take a more proactive approach to amplify the effects of the CIIE, and work together with partners such as the government, medical institutions, and industry associations to promote the construction of disease management systems and innovation in medical models, bringing cutting-edge technologies and products closer to Chinese patients."

To deepen its development in China, Baxter has established a full-cycle industrial chain in China covering R&D, intelligent manufacturing, supply, and services. One R&D center and seven production bases that Baxter has invested in and laid out in China have become important hubs for introducing innovative products and services to China and exporting them to the Asia-Pacific region. "Under the impetus of the CIIE, Baxter is 'integrating' into China more rapidly, thereby gaining keener insights into the local healthcare landscape."Health"The trend of services is to meet the more diverse needs of Chinese patients, providing them with more flexible and humanized medical solutions," said Xu Runhong.
