Lumakras® China's First Exhibition: Bringing Breakthrough Targeted Therapies to Lung Cancer Patients
On the afternoon of November 8, Amgen introduced Lumakras, the world's first KRAS-targeted therapeutic drug, via the "CIIE New Products Hub" platform.®(Sotorasib) Makes Its China Debut. For 40 years, the KRAS target has been one of the most formidable challenges in cancer research, and treating KRAS mutations was once considered "undruggable." However, Amgen has made significant progress with KRAS.G12CThe development of the inhibitor sotorasib took less than three years, making it the fastest research progress project in its history, demonstrating Amgen's R&D strength in addressing the "undruggable" challenge.
Recently, on the list of the "Prix Galien Award," known as the "Nobel Prize of the pharmaceutical industry," Lumakras®(Sotorasib) also won the 2022 "Best Drug Award." In February 2021, Lumakras®(Sotorasib) has been designated as a "Breakthrough Therapy" by the Center for Drug Evaluation of the National Medical Products Administration.
Non-small cell lung cancer, as the most common type of lung cancer, accounts for approximately 80-85% of global lung cancer cases.[3]The KRAS G12C mutation is the most common type of KRAS mutation in non-small cell lung cancer.[4],[5]In Chinese patients with non-small cell lung cancer, this mutation is a biomarker of poor prognosis, and G12C-specific inhibitors are expected to improve their prognosis.[6]。
