According to CCTV News, on the evening of November 22 local time, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) granted emergency approval for the use of two Pfizer bivalent COVID-19 vaccines in Brazil as booster shots for individuals aged 12 years and above. The two approved bivalent vaccines are effective against the original strain of the coronavirus along with the BA.1 variant, and the original strain along with the BA.4 and BA.5 variants, respectively.

Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency stated that the previously used COVID-19 vaccines remain effective in preventing severe cases and deaths, but bivalent vaccines can be included in vaccination programs to combat variants of the coronavirus.

Infection experts suggest that immunosuppressed individuals and healthcare workers should use bivalent vaccines to enhance epidemic prevention.
