XiamenNovember 25, 2022PR Newswire -- During the 2022 Xiamen International Optometry and Eyewear Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "Xiamen Eyewear Exhibition"), EssilorLuxottica, the world's leading vision care and eyewear manufacturing company, made its debut at this industry event under its group image for the first time. EssilorLuxottica showcased several globally renowned lens and eyewear brands under its portfolio, including Essilor, Transitions, Ray-Ban, and Oakley, while promoting the upgrading of myopia management solutions and the community-based development of optometry services to meet the evolving vision health needs and personalized style demands of Chinese consumers.
George Lin, President of Professional Vision Care Business at EssilorLuxottica Greater China, stated: "At the recently concluded CIIE, we introduced the concept of ‘Proactive Eye Health and Optical Upgrade,’ which is our active response to the call in China’s 14th Five-Year National Eye Health Plan to build a high-quality and efficient eye health service system and raise nationwide awareness of eye health management. To this end, we have launched a series of ecosystem collaborations in areas such as technology research and development, establishing consensus, and standardizing services. Our participation in the Xiamen Eyewear Exhibition marks a follow-up action to promote optical upgrades after the CIIE. This event brings together top players in China’s eyewear industry. We hope to join hands with our business partners to expand the reach of our products and services to consumers, seize opportunities in the optical industry through win-win cooperation, and help Chinese consumers ‘See Deeper, Go Further’ to fully enjoy life."
Group's Debut: A Gathering of Heavyweight Brands
EssilorLuxottica, formed by the merger of Essilor and Luxottica in 2018, is a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of lenses, frames, and sunglasses. This year's Xiamen Eyewear Exhibition marks the first domestic industry event for EssilorLuxottica as a merged group in China. Within its vibrant 300-square-meter booth, EssilorLuxottica showcased comprehensive vision care solutions covering the entire life cycle, tailored to different age groups' lifestyle scenarios and eyewear needs. Highlights included a myopia management zone for children and teenagers, an adult light management area focusing on light sensitivity and protection from harmful light, and an adult visual function zone addressing eye fatigue and presbyopia. The group’s brand portfolio, including Essilor, Transitions, Ray-Ban, and Oakley, offered visitors a 360-degree immersive vision care experience.
Moreover, the international luxury brand frame product tasting area and the Transitions Outdoor Fashion Sports Experience Zone inject fashion and sports vitality into the booth. Through the organic collision of optometry and fashion, EssilorLuxottica Group aims to integrate consumers' vision care needs, lifestyle scenarios, and fashion preferences, lead the fashion upgrade of the eyewear industry, and set a new benchmark for the eyewear industry.
Deepening Myopia Management, Expanding Full-Frame Solutions
In recent years, EssilorLuxottica has continuously invested in research and development in the field of functional lenses designed to control myopia progression, addressing the urgent public health issue of myopia and safeguarding the eye health of Chinese adolescents. One significant achievement was the 2020 launch of Stellest lenses, which feature the company's pioneering H.A.L.T. High Aspherical Micro-Lens Technology — a highlight at the Xiamen exhibition. The latest clinical trial data, conducted in collaboration with authoritative institutions, shows that wearing the lenses for more than 12 hours a day can slow myopia progression by an average of 67%.
The fit of the frame is crucial for myopia control effectiveness but is often overlooked by the industry. During the Xiamen Exhibition, Stellest and Ray-Ban announced the launch of their Complete Pair collaboration, combining the group's cutting-edge optometry technology with frame design capabilities to provide children with integrated Complete Pair options that better suit their facial features and wearing habits, creating a model "CP" for myopia management. This represents EssilorLuxottica's latest exploration in innovative solutions for adolescent myopia management and another step in resource integration following the strong collaboration between Essilor's optometry centers and its retail channel, LensCrafters.

High-efficiency Fitting Instruments,Promote Community-Based Optometry
The "14th Five-Year Plan" for National Eye Health in China proposes to build a high-quality and efficient eye health service system and raise public awareness of eye health management. EssilorLuxottica actively advocates for the public to shift their mindset on eye health management from "treating existing conditions" to "preventing future illnesses," while exploring new pathways toward community-based optometric services. During the exhibition, EssilorLuxottica showcased several eye health screening devices from its portfolio, including the fully automated computerized refraction and biometry combo device, ARK Biometer Combo, which made its debut at the 5th CIIE. This instrument integrates biometry, corneal curvature measurement, and refraction measurement, and can obtain 15 sets of binocular data within as little as 25 seconds, significantly improving the efficiency of fitting and eye health screening.
Chen Luyi, Vice President of the Instrument Division, EssilorLuxottica Greater China, stated: "The birth of the ARK Biometer Combo fills a market gap for similar products both in and outside of China, representing another innovative achievement in the field of eye health screening. We look forward to this instrument not only enhancing consumer experience but also promoting community-based optometric services, better meeting the growing proactive eye health needs of Chinese consumers."
