Gelonghui December 12th丨According to market news, U.S.-based Amgen (AMGN.US) has entered the late stages of negotiations to acquire European biopharmaceutical company Horizon Therapeutics (HRZN.US), while French pharmaceutical company Sanofi (SNY.US) has withdrawn from the bidding. The two parties may reach an agreement as early as Monday, but sources familiar with the matter did not rule out the possibility that negotiations could ultimately fall apart.
Last month, Horizon, with a market value of approximately $22 billion, stated that it was in talks with Amgen, Sanofi, and Janssen Global Services, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, regarding the possibility of selling the entire company.
Sanofi said on Sunday that it was no longer in talks with Horizon and had no intention of submitting a formal acquisition offer to the company as the deal price did not meet the group's objectives. Janssen also said last week that it was no longer in discussions with Horizon.
