Reuters reported that AstraZeneca stated on December 19 that its drug Imfinzi, as a monotherapy for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer, failed to achieve the primary goal of improving overall survival compared to platinum-based chemotherapy. According to an official statement on AstraZeneca's website, Imfinzi failed in a Phase III trial named "PEARL," among patients with high levels of PD-L1 expression in tumor cells or in subgroups of patients with a lower risk of early death. It is understood that Imfinzi belongs to immunotherapy, which enhances the body’s defense against cancer by using antibodies to block or bind foreign substances inside and outside the body.
