"Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment Capacity Improvement Project"
Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, also known as "phthisis," with a prolonged course that seriously affects patients' lives. China is a high-burden country for drug-resistant tuberculosis, with low patient detection rates, low treatment enrollment rates, and low treatment success rates, posing significant challenges to tuberculosis prevention and control efforts and national public health management in China. The "14th Five-Year Plan for National Health" explicitly states the need to establish a stable investment mechanism for public health services, strengthen talent development, improve basic disease control conditions, refine public health service programs, and reinforce grassroots public health systems. Based on the current status of tuberculosis prevention and control in China, Janssen China has partnered with the Chinese Anti-Tuberculosis Association to launch the "Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment Capacity Enhancement Initiative." This project focuses on themes such as "detection and diagnosis," "standardized treatment," and "humanistic management" for the population affected by drug-resistant tuberculosis. By hosting expert high-level forums in the field of drug-resistant tuberculosis, it addresses the current state of drug-resistant tuberculosis prevention and control in China and closely explores standardized clinical diagnosis and treatment norms for drug-resistant tuberculosis in China over the next 3-5 years. It aims to support the realization of national tuberculosis prevention and control strategic goals and jointly promote the construction of China's public health service system.
Professor Cheng Shiming, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Chinese Anti-Tuberculosis Association, stated, "Exploring the depth and breadth of patient services" requires the collaboration of multiple forces to promote the establishment of industry-related standards, thereby benefiting patients. The Anti-Tuberculosis Association will join hands with Janssen China to mobilize societal forces, bring together experts and scholars for academic discussions, participate in the establishment and implementation of relevant group standards, and promote the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application. This will provide more scientific, full-process disease management services for drug-resistant tuberculosis patients.
