Meanwhile, a Meta spokesperson also confirmed the news, stating: "We are thrilled to have the Luxexcel team join Meta, which expands the partnership between the two companies."
It is reported that Luxexcel, a company headquartered in the Netherlands with a research and development center designed in Belgium, specializes in 3D printing prescription lenses and lens technology solutions.
In simple terms, Luxexcel focuses on providing vision correction solutions for AR glasses lenses by applying special micro-droplets onto the lenses. This ensures the lenses remain smooth while incorporating specific corrective needs such as myopia and hyperopia.
Previously, Luxexcel has collaborated with numerous AR optical companies, including Lumus and WaveOptics. Meanwhile, Luxexcel also partnered with Meta on the earlier Project Aria product.
Meanwhile, De Tijd also noted: META has shown extremely high sincerity in pushing forward this transaction. Although the specific funding was not disclosed, it mentioned that Participatiemaatschappij Vlaanderen (under the Flemish government) heavily invested in Luxexcel and benefited from it.
