FT Chinese Network, January 16: Bayer AG stated that it will shift the focus of its pharmaceutical business from Europe and the UK to the United States. The European and UK governments have made "serious mistakes" in managing healthcare budgets.
Bayer AG's pharmaceuticals chief Stefan Oelrich said Europe is becoming “innovation unfriendly” as policymakers are making it harder to get a commercial return on investment. He added that moves by the UK to expand a medicine tax — designed to cap drug costs for the NHS — and similar plans in Germany were deterring investment.
