On February 6, Eli Lilly announced that its glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist Tirzepatide had achieved the primary endpoint and all key secondary endpoints in the Phase III trial SURMOUNT-CN conducted in Chinese adults with obesity or overweight. In this trial, the overall safety profile of Tirzepatide was consistent with that reported in previous trials, with no new safety signals identified.
Following the groundbreaking results of SURMOUNT-1, the world's first Phase III trial of Tirzepatide for obesity or overweight reported in The New England Journal of Medicine in 2022, the SURMOUNT-CN trial has once again demonstrated positive outcomes in the Chinese population. The trial data is still being further organized and analyzed, and the relevant results will be published in a peer-reviewed academic journal.
About Tirzepatide
