On February 23, Pliant stated in an SEC filing that Novartis had terminated the collaboration to develop PLN-1474, an integrin αVβ1 inhibitor for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), as part of its strategic decision to discontinue developing NASH therapies. The termination agreement will take effect on April 18, 2023.

Novartis' collaboration with Pliant began in October 2019. At that time, Novartis committed to paying Pliant an upfront payment of $50 million and up to $416 million in future milestone payments to acquire the development and commercialization rights for PLN-1474 and three additional integrin candidate products. To date, Pliant has received $29 million in milestone payments.
