AstraZeneca Submits IND Application in China for Cardiovascular Drug AZD3427, a Relaxin Mimetic

Intelligent Finance APP learned on March 2 that the official website of the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) of the China National Medical Products Administration disclosed that AstraZeneca (AstraZeneca) (AZN.US) had submitted a clinical trial application for the concentrated solution for injection of AZD3427 and received approval. Public information shows that AZD3427 is an investigational product in the field of cardiovascular disease by AstraZeneca, a relaxin mimetic, which is currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical trials overseas.

Public data shows that Relaxin is an endogenous heterodimeric insulin-like peptide. Due to its role in softening the pubic symphysis and the cervix, Relaxin was initially considered a pregnancy hormone as it prepares various species for childbirth. According to literature reports, Relaxin is now widely recognized for its beneficial physiological effects on the cardiovascular system and is considered to have good safety.

AZD3427 is a relaxin mimetic under research by AstraZeneca. According to the ClinicalTrials website, AstraZeneca is conducting a Phase 2 clinical study in patients with heart failure and pulmonary arterial hypertension to evaluate the ability of AZD3427 to reduce pulmonary vascular resistance after 24 weeks of treatment.
