Carl Zeiss AG stated that the reason for acquiring tooz technologies GmbH is the significant growth potential seen in the AR/VR glasses market. tooz technologies GmbH possesses capabilities and technologies in AR optical design, engineering, and manufacturing, which effectively complement Carl Zeiss AG's existing capabilities.

We know that ZEISS's businesses involve optics, semiconductors and other fields. What people are more familiar with are the consumer-grade optical lenses it has developed. After completing the acquisition of tooz, it also indicated that ZEISS is formally exerting efforts in the AR/VR optical field. tooz is no longer a joint venture subsidiary but has become a department of ZEISS. ZEISS also plans to promote tooz's solutions to the global market.

According to Qingting Network, tooz focuses on lightweight AR glasses solutions. Its hardware features replaceable prescription lenses, high light transmittance, and suitability for daily life scenarios. After joining Carl Zeiss, tooz will concentrate on developing the unique selling points of its AR products: a mass-producible imaging system and support for vision correction (e.g., replaceable prescription lenses). In the future, tooz also plans to serve other AR/VR optics manufacturers by providing prescription lenses adapted for AR glasses.Carl Zeiss
