On March 10, the official website of the National Medical Products Administration showed that pazopanib tablets developed by Qilu Pharmaceutical and CHIATAI TIANQING were both approved for marketing, with an indication for adjuvant treatment of renal cell carcinoma. These are the first two generic versions of pazopanib to be marketed in China.

Pazopanib, developed by GlaxoSmithKline, is a novel oral angiogenesis inhibitor that interferes with the formation of new blood vessels required for the survival and growth of refractory tumors. It targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) and acts by inhibiting the generation of new blood vessels that supply the tumor.

Pazopanib was first approved by the FDA for marketing in 2009. The currently approved indications include advanced renal cell carcinoma and soft tissue sarcoma (STS). In addition, several studies on the use of this drug for the treatment of ovarian cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, and osteosarcoma have entered Phase III.
