Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Office announced the winners of the first "Jiangsu Patent Award." The invention patent "EGFR Inhibitors and Their Preparation and Application" (Patent No.: ZL 201580045311.2) for Hansoh Pharma's Class 1 new drug, Masitinib Amisulpride Tablets (trade name: Amilevo), won the first Jiangsu Patent Gold Award. Hansoh Pharma is the only pharmaceutical company in Jiangsu to receive this award.
Ameitinib, independently developed by Hansoh Pharma, is the first third-generation EGFR inhibitor in Asia and the second globally. It is used for the first-line treatment of EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Both of its approved indications have been included in the National Medical Insurance Catalog. Ameitinib demonstrates significant safety and efficacy advantages in treating adult patients with locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC who are positive for EGFR-sensitive mutations, offering a new "Chinese solution" for non-small cell lung cancer patients.
The patent that won the gold award this time is the Almonertinib compound patent. The company's R&D team, with the help of computer-aided and modern drug screening and synthesis technology, screened out a promising drug candidate from numerous novel drug molecules. Through unique molecular structure design, the generation of non-selective active metabolites was avoided, effectively inhibiting T790M resistance mutation and activation. The drug also exhibits good selectivity and ideal pharmacokinetic properties, effectively addressing the issues of drug resistance and significant side effects.
Currently, this award-winning patent has entered 13 countries and regions worldwide and has been granted authorization in countries and regions such as China, the U.S., Europe, and Japan. In addition, the company has implemented a series of patent layouts on different technical topics for this product, including pharmaceutical crystalline forms, drug formulations, preparation processes, and medical uses. To date, Aumolertinib has cumulatively applied for over 30 domestic and international patents, including 3 PCT international patents, establishing peripheral patents at various levels. This not only extends the patent protection period of the product but also enhances the strength of patent protection across different technological categories. At the same time, it fully utilizes PCT international applications to extend territorial coverage, providing effective and multi-dimensional patent protection to maintain the product's competitive advantage in both domestic and international markets. This also lays the foundation for overseas licensing of the product.
Hansoh Pharma is a leading innovation-driven pharmaceutical company in China, which has always attached great importance to intellectual property work. It has successively formulated and implemented more than 20 intellectual property management systems, and its intellectual property management system passed the national standard certification in 2017. To date, the company has applied for nearly 800 valid invention patents in China, nearly 150 PCT international applications, and has won one gold award, one silver award, and six excellence awards for Chinese invention patents. Hansoh Pharma has been recognized by the National Intellectual Property Administration as a "National Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprise" for many consecutive years and is the High-Value Patent Cultivation Demonstration Center of Jiangsu Province.
The Jiangsu Patent Award is the highest government award established by Jiangsu Province for inventions and creations, conferred by the Jiangsu Provincial Government. It represents the highest level of independent innovation in Jiangsu. (Zhu Wen)
