Chronic Disease Medical Device and Therapy Developer

Artificial Intelligence Computing Service Provider
Entering the digital age, intelligence has become an inevitable trend in the development of healthcare. AI can bring process improvements and efficiency enhancements to existing healthcare systems, reduce the workload of medical staff, and accelerate the improvement of medical service levels and drug research progress. The AI platform for medical devices jointly created by Medtronic and NVIDIA introduces new AI technologies into clinical environments, comprehensively empowering patient care through innovative models.
NVIDIA announced today that it is collaborating with Medtronic, the world's largest medical technology provider, to accelerate AI development in the healthcare field and bring new AI-based solutions to patient care.

The two companies will integrate NVIDIA's healthcare and edge AI technologies into Medtronic’s GI Genius™ intelligent endoscopy module, which is developed and manufactured by Cosmo Pharmaceuticals. GI Genius is the first FDA-approved AI-assisted colonoscopy tool that helps physicians detect polyps that could potentially develop into colorectal cancer.
GI Genius incorporates a set of AI algorithms and integrates the NVIDIA Clara healthcare platform, enabling Medtronic to accelerate the development of real-time medical procedure algorithms, thereby driving AI innovation and improving patient care.
Kimberly Powell, Vice President of NVIDIA's healthcare business, stated: "AI is a powerful tool that can enhance the speed, efficiency, and effectiveness of health systems worldwide. To improve clinical decision-making, reduce medical variability, and enhance treatment outcomes, we are collaborating with Medtronic to accelerate AI innovation through a software-defined business model."
Medtronic Gastrointestinal Business President Giovanni Di Napoli stated: "We believe that collaboration with AI companies and developers like NVIDIA and Cosmo is crucial for driving innovation in the medical device industry. We are working alongside some of the best and brightest minds in the AI field to develop new technologies that can improve treatment outcomes and transform healthcare delivery."
Medtronic Plans to Integrate NVIDIA Holoscan, a Real-Time AI Computing Software Platform for Medical Devices, with the Industrial-Grade Edge AI Hardware Platform NVIDIA IGX. This Integration Will Work Alongside Its GI Genius AI-Assisted Colonoscopy System to Provide Doctors with AI-Enhanced Diagnostic Images. Holoscan Enables the Introduction of New AI Applications into Clinical Environments by Offering Full-Stack Infrastructure for Scalable, Software-Defined Streaming Data Processing at the Edge.
With NVIDIA Holoscan and the IGX platform, developers can efficiently train and validate AI models within the Cosmo Innovation Center, then host AI-powered applications on Medtronic's Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) app marketplace — the GI Genius AI Access™ platform, making software-defined medical devices a reality.
The first GI Genius systems adopting NVIDIA technology will be available later this year.
