)--Linking the forefront of technology, serving business innovationRecently, NuEyes, a provider of medical AR/VR smart glasses solutions, announced a new AR glasses solution called NuLoupes. This AR glasses model is expected to be released in the third and fourth quarters of this year. It features a 48-megapixel 3D camera module that supports depth perception and 1-10x magnification, which could enhance the experience for doctors during surgeries and treatments. For instance, in dentistry, doctors typically use binocular optical loupes when examining teeth, usually in a wearable design. In contrast, NuLoupes utilizes a 3D depth-sensing camera to magnify images, displaying them in AR glasses. The advantages include intelligent image adjustment, freely adjustable imaging angles, and greater comfort for prolonged use.
According to Qingting Network, NuEyes, founded in 2016, is an American company. The company previously launched the NuEyes Pro 3, a to-B AR glasses solution, as well as the consumer-grade AR projection glasses Pro 3e. The Pro 3 is based on the BirdBath optical solution and was co-developed by NuEyes and Pacific Future Technology. This AR glasses product has been used in scenarios such as AR diagnosis and treatment, training, remote guidance, and amblyopia therapy.
NuLoupes appears to also be based on the BirdBath solution, but with a more wraparound-style light shield design, offering seemingly better light transmission. Additionally, a 90° direction-adjustable camera module has been added above the glasses. By adjusting the camera’s orientation, dentists can examine teeth and perform surgeries from a more comfortable position, alleviating neck and back fatigue caused by prolonged bending. NuLoupes is lightweight, ergonomic, reducing the burden of extended wear. Besides dentistry, this solution can also be applied in other medical scenarios such as pediatrics, cardiothoracic surgery, and neurosurgery, and even used for jewelry appraisal, card collecting, watchmaking, object recognition, and more.
