Xinhua News Agency, Beijing (reported by Zhang Zhaohui) — On May 29, Beijing Yimiaoshenzhou Medical Techology Co., Ltd. presented its next-generation CAR-T cell product (HP21) targeting BCMA at the 2023 Zhongguancun Forum and participated in the new product launch promotion of the International Technology Trading Conference.

Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-Modified T Cell Technology (CAR-T Cell Technology) is a revolutionary method for treating malignant tumors and is considered a major breakthrough in the field of cancer treatment in recent years. Since 2011, several large-scale clinical trials have demonstrated the remarkable efficacy of CD19-targeted CAR-T cell therapy in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), with complete remission (CR) rates as high as 68% to 93%, and some patients achieving curative outcomes. B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) is expressed only on plasma cells, a subset of B cells, and myeloma cells, making it a suitable target antigen for such therapies.

To date, there are two CAR-T cell products targeting BCMA that have been approved for marketing globally. Clinical trial data involving anti-BCMA CAR-T cells show that patients with relapsed or refractory myeloma can achieve an objective response. Although these studies help demonstrate the short-term safety and efficacy of CAR-T cell therapy, the duration of disease remission for most patients does not exceed 18 months. Further research is needed to delay recurrence in myeloma patients, including enhancing the biological activity of CAR-T cells and optimizing the manufacturing process of CAR-T cells.

HP21 CAR-T Cell Product Utilizes a Fourth-Generation CAR-T Design, Incorporating scFv Targeting BCMA, CD8α Hinge and Transmembrane Regions, 4-1BB Co-Stimulatory Signaling Domain, an Optimized CD3ζ Signaling Domain, and an Enhanced Co-Stimulatory Receptor Co-Expressed on the Cell Membrane Surface. The Rapid CAR-T Cell Preparation Technology Reduces the Production Cycle to Two Days, Improving Patient Accessibility and Clinical Efficacy.

Beijing Yimiaoshenzhou Medical Techology Co., Ltd. stated that the HP21 CAR-T cell product has been applied in exploratory clinical research for the treatment of relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma, with infusion completed in 8 patients.
