Intelligent Finance APP learned that AstraZeneca (AZN.US) stated in a declaration on Thursday that the company has abandoned the development of a drug named brazikumab. This decision was made after evaluating the development timeline and competitive landscape of the drug. It is reported that brazikumab is used to treat inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and it had already entered the late testing stage. Data shows that brazikumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting Interleukin 23 (IL-23). In May 2020, AstraZeneca announced that it had completed the process of reclaiming global rights of brazikumab from Allergan. The drug was originally expected to be launched around 2025.
