BeijingJune 4, 2023PR Newswire -- Today, Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX), a global leading medical technology company, in collaboration with the Asian Heart Rhythm Association (AHRA), officially launched the "Meet the Heartbeat" project. As the first on-site event of the project, the "Ultra-High-Density Mapping Forum: Complex Atrial Arrhythmias" was successfully held in Beijing on the same day. The forum was chaired by Yao Yan, Director of the Arrhythmia Center at Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, aiming to discuss cutting-edge trends in cardiac electrophysiology with front-line operators and further promote the standardized use of core electrophysiological technologies in China. This also marks the official establishment of a new academic exchange platform for domestic cardiac electrophysiology practitioners, supported by Boston Scientific.

The clinical diagnosis and treatment of complex and refractory atrial arrhythmias have always been a difficult and hot issue in the field of electrophysiological therapy. In recent years, the continuous development of three-dimensional mapping technology and strategies in cardiac electrophysiology in China has led to significant breakthroughs in the treatment methods for such arrhythmias. The use of ultra-high-density three-dimensional mapping systems to guide catheter ablation for treating arrhythmias has become a trend. As catheter ablation surgeries become more widespread and new technologies emerge, the number of patients with complex arrhythmias in China is also increasing annually. There is an urgent need to train more excellent cardiac electrophysiology practitioners to effectively meet clinical demands. Against this backdrop, the "Meet the Heartbeat" project was born.

Yao Yan, Director of the Arrhythmia Center at Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and President of the Asian Heart Rhythm Society (AHRA), stated: "The use of a three-dimensional cardiac mapping system can accurately and clearly display the three-dimensional structure of the heart and the conduction of excitation, assisting electrophysiologists in conducting in-depth research on the mechanisms of complex arrhythmias and improving treatment success rates. We hope that through the 'Meet the Heartbeat' project, we can provide more online and offline exchange opportunities for young and middle-aged electrophysiologists. We will work together with new concepts and technologies to help everyone enhance clinical skills and broaden academic horizons, better providing scientific, efficient, and safe diagnosis and treatment for arrhythmia patients in China."

Zhang Han, Vice Director of Sales and Marketing for the Electrophysiology Division of Boston Scientific, stated: "Complex arrhythmias have become a major disease threat affecting people in China. As an innovative leader in minimally invasive interventional medical devices, Boston Scientific has long focused on this category of diseases, and several innovative products that meet the needs of doctors and patients have been introduced in China. In the future, we will continue to leverage our global resource advantages to fill gaps in clinical diagnosis and treatment technologies in China, promote standardization and normalization of clinical practices, empower more healthcare professionals, share the value of cutting-edge technological innovations, build a united front for disease prevention and treatment, meet the diverse diagnostic and treatment needs of Chinese patients, and drive high-quality development in China's medical services."

At the first forum, electrophysiology practitioners from all over China gathered to discuss clinical application cases of performing ultra-high-density mapping using classic products, as well as diagnosis and treatment strategies for complex arrhythmias in clinical practice. They also jointly looked forward to the future use of cutting-edge "black technology" – pulsed field ablation technology – in the field of atrial fibrillation, a common type of arrhythmia. The "Meet the Heartbeat" project will also hold multiple online seminars and offline forums within the year, visiting cities such as Wuhan and Shenzhen, spanning the three major regions of North, Central, and South China. These events will invite frontline young and middle-aged electrophysiology practitioners to share classic cases, observe live surgical broadcasts, and engage in in-depth discussions on complex arrhythmias, further advancing the development of China’s electrophysiology industry to new heights.
