On July 27, 2023, Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) announced its Q2 2023 financial report: revenue reached $11.226 billion, compared to $11.887 billion in the prior period and $11.81 billion expected, representing a 4.94% shortfall from market expectations; earnings per share were $1.75, compared to $1.93 in the prior period and $1.98 expected, representing an 11.62% shortfall from market expectations. Revenue from mature products (In-Line) was $8.6 billion, while revenue from newly launched products (New Product Portfolio) was approximately $900 million.

Among them, two products from BMSCAR-TTherapies Abecma and Breyanzi Q2 Revenue Totals $232 Million.

In addition, Abecma's sales in Q1 2023 were $147 million, and Breyanzi's sales in Q1 2023 were $71 million.Two CAR-T therapies generated a total revenue of $450 million (approximately RMB 3.227 billion) in H1 2023In addition, Abecma and Breyanzi generated revenues of $388 million and $182 million respectively in 2022.

Time to market: Approved for marketing by the FDA in March 2021.

Indications: Relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.

Note: Abecma is a lentivirus-based ex vivo gene therapy, the world's first CAR-T cell therapy targeting BCMA, and the fifth CAR-T therapy approved by the FDA. The drug works by using lentivirus-mediated gene modification to express chimeric BCMA receptors on the patient’s autologous T cells ex vivo. Before infusion of this cellular gene therapy, patients are pretreated with two compounds, cyclophosphamide and fludarabine, to deplete unmodified T cells in the body. Subsequently, the modified T cells are reinfused into the patient, where they seek out and destroy cancer cells expressing BCMA.
