Illumina's NextSeq 550Dx High-Throughput Sequencer Wins 2.39 Million Yuan Bid at Top-Tier Cancer Hospital

On August 1, the Tumor Hospital Affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University released the "Results of the 2023 Medical Equipment Procurement Project (a batch of testing equipment)." The announcement showed that the total winning bid amount was as high as 2,597,900 yuan. The types of equipment involved in the procurement mainly included high-throughput sequencers and fully automatic chemiluminescence immunoassay systems. Among them, the high-throughput sequencer NextSeq 550Dx, under Illumina, won the bid with 2.39 million yuan, ranking first in the winning bid amount.

NextSeq 550Dx is the second platform from Illumina to receive approval from the U.S. FDA and CE-IVD certification in the European Union, bringing the power of high-throughput NGS to clinical laboratories. The NextSeq 550Dx platform features dual-function modes, including Diagnostic Mode (Dx Mode) and Research Mode, enabling flexible clinical research and the development of various IVD assays on a single instrument.

This platform is suitable for NGS-targeted sequencing in vitro diagnostic applications across various clinical samples. For large clinical laboratories, the NextSeq 550Dx instrument provides a validated high-throughput platform. Based on this system, clinical laboratories can develop and register clinical research and in vitro diagnostic applications ranging from targeted sequencing to metagenomic sequencing. These applications have now expanded into clinical uses in oncology, reproductive health, and infectious pathogen detection.
