On July 29, during the Pulsed Field Ablation session, Professor Yao Yan from Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, attended and served as the chairman, while Professor Gao Bingbing, Professor Wang Xianqing, and Professor Zhong Jingquan (listed in alphabetical order by surname) served as moderators. During the conference, Professor Peng Yucheng shared an "Interpretation of Real-World Clinical Evidence for the FARAPULSE Pulsed Field Ablation System" and introduced the iteration of pulsed field ablation technology inspired by direct current ablation, as well as its improvements in controllability, safety, and efficiency. Subsequently, several experts who previously participated in the "Pulsed Field Ablation Pilot Program" at Boao Super Hospital in Hainan gave presentations on "Case Reports of PFA Applications." Through real case studies, they shared the clinical benefits of PFA technology for patients from multiple perspectives.

Compared with traditional radiofrequency and cryoablation, pulsed field ablation (PFA) technology is tissue-selective. Its injury mechanism involves irreversible electroporation rather than thermal heating or cooling, which reduces the impact on adjacent structures due to its high selectivity for myocardial tissue, significantly minimizing complications. Meanwhile, the FARAPULSE Pulsed Field Ablation System’s ablation catheter, available in both flower-like and basket-shaped forms, addresses ablation on both the inner pulmonary veins and the pulmonary vein antrum, making the procedure more comprehensive. The electric field generator of the FARAPULSE system delivers bipolar bidirectional wave pulses with stable clinical performance and well-established product parameters, reinforcing the concept that "Not all PFAs are created equal."
Moreover, during this conference, Boston Scientific created a distinctive and innovative interactive space for the FARAPULSE Pulsed Field Ablation System. This marked the product's first official appearance on a high-end academic platform in China, attracting over a hundred experts to visit. Through hands-on experience with the catheter samples of the FARAPULSE Pulsed Field Ablation System and learning about the biophysical principles of pulsed field ablation, several industry experts expressed surprise at this highly efficient and safe technology. They also conveyed their anticipation for it to elevate electrophysiology in China to new heights.
