According to news from AstraZeneca on August 18, AstraZeneca recently signed a new round of strategic cooperation framework agreement with Wuxi High-tech Zone in London, UK, further enhancing the level of cooperation in localized production and supply, sales, and the construction of a health innovation ecosystem. Today, both parties officially signed the strategic development agreement for the Wuxi production and supply base. According to the agreement, AstraZeneca will accelerate the introduction of a new production line for the hyperkalemia drug "Lokelma" in Wuxi and complete the global production integration of the small molecule injectable digestive drug "Nexium" by 2024. The annual output value of the two products is expected to reach 3.5 billion yuan after reaching full production, comprehensively enhancing the production capacity and global supply capability of the Wuxi production and supply base.
On August 16, AstraZeneca signed an investment cooperation memorandum with Taizhou Pharmaceutical Industry Park. According to the agreement, AstraZeneca plans to increase investment in the Taizhou production and supply base, considering the construction of a new production line for diabetes drugs, including Andas (generic name: Dapagliflozin Metformin Sustained-Release Tablets). By further expanding production capacity, AstraZeneca aims to continuously build Taizhou into a global production base for its diabetes products. Last year, AstraZeneca officially announced the addition of a new production line for diabetes drugs in Taizhou, which is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2023. The annual output value of the new production line is expected to exceed 10 billion yuan.
On August 14, AstraZeneca signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Phase II Expansion Investment Cooperation of a new production base with Qingdao High-tech Industrial Development Zone. According to the agreement, AstraZeneca will further invest 2.5 billion US dollars into the production and supply base of Budesonide/Formoterol Pressurized Metered-Dose Inhaler (pMDI), which has a total investment of approximately 4.5 billion US dollars, to increase canister filling capacity and add a new pMDI packaging production line, further expanding its production capacity.
