Second Batch of the Catalogue of Ancient Classic Herbal Formulas Released with 217 Time-Tested Prescriptions

Ancient Classic Prescriptions refer to the formulas recorded in ancient Chinese medical classics that are still widely used today, with proven efficacy and distinct characteristics and advantages. Promoting the research and development of formulations based on ancient classic prescriptions, and transforming the classical theories and practical experiences of traditional Chinese medicine into new Chinese medicines, will help better leverage the unique strengths of traditional Chinese medicine, ensure public health, and contribute to "Healthy China."

The release of the "Catalogue of Ancient Classic Prescriptions (Second Batch)" has positive significance for stimulating the innovation and R&D vitality of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), obtaining highly competitive TCM products, enhancing the service capacity of TCM, promoting the innovative development of TCM while adhering to its core principles, and advancing its inheritance. The next step will involve the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the National Medical Products Administration further accelerating the verification of key information to better facilitate the R&D of ancient classic prescriptions and promote high-quality development of the TCM industry.

To the TCM authorities and drug regulatory departments of all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government:

To implement the "Traditional Chinese Medicine Law" and the "Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Promoting the Inheritance and Innovative Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine," and to advance the research and development of traditional Chinese medicine compound preparations derived from ancient classic formulas as well as streamline the registration and approval process, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in conjunction with the National Medical Products Administration, has formulated the "Catalogue of Ancient Classic Formulas (Second Batch)," which is now released.
