On September 6, Novartis announced that Marie-France Tschudin, the current President of International Innovative Medicines and Chief Commercial Officer, will step down from her position. She will also step down from the Novartis Executive Committee (ECN), effective September 15. Prior to this, Tschudin had been responsible for nearly 7 years of commercial leadership at Novartis.

Patrick Horber, currently Senior Vice President and President of Immunology at AbbVie, will assume the position from Tschudin later this year, while also joining the Novartis Executive Committee (ECN), reporting directly to Dr. Vas Narasimhan, CEO of Novartis. During the transition period between Tschudin's departure and Horber's appointment, Mukul Mehta, Chief Financial Officer of International Operations, will temporarily lead the division.

Previously, Novartis underwent a series of restructuring plans, including layoffs, establishing a new organizational structure, and spinning off its generic drug subsidiary, Sandoz. Vas Narasimhan, CEO of Novartis, aims to reshape Novartis into a "pure" company focused on producing innovative medicines.
