MISHA Knee System is an implantable shock absorber (ISA) for the knee, used to treat patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee. These patients often cannot find pain relief through non-surgical or surgical treatments, and the pain has interfered with daily activities. Additionally, they are unable to undergo joint replacement surgery due to age restrictions or other subjective reasons.
Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disease, with knee osteoarthritis accounting for over 80%, affecting at least 19% of individuals aged 45 and above. The above-mentioned impact on American adults.MISHA Knee System Was Launched in April 2023. Before That, If Conservative Treatment Didn't Work, Doctors and Most Patients Had Very Limited Treatment Options.

Dennis C. Crawford, MD, Professor of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine, treated the first patient with the MISHA system. Dr. Crawford expressed his honor in treating the first MISHA patient. The patient, in his 40s, presented with a medial meniscus lesion, significant medial knee pain, and mild joint space loss. Before the advent of the MISHA Knee System, there were not many good treatment options suitable for this patient. However, two weeks after the MISHA implantation, during the follow-up visit, the patient’s knee had regained full range of motion, was able to bear full weight, and he could walk comfortably. This outcome aligns with the results from the pivotal study.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease that affects the lives of more than 32 million adults in the United States and is expected to impact 70 million Americans by 2040. Knee osteoarthritis occurs when the body's natural shock absorbers, such as joints, cartilage, and menisci, no longer provide cushioning, leading to chronic pain and restricted movement. Many patients with mild to moderate osteoarthritis are otherwise healthy, in the prime of their working lives, and lead fairly busy lifestyles.

MISHA Knee System is designed to simplify surgery, requiring no bone cutting and preserving the articular cartilage surface of the knee, thus maintaining future treatment options. The surgery utilizes standard orthopedic instruments and dedicated instruments for the one-time implantable shock absorber, and the surgical techniques involved are also very familiar to orthopedic surgeons.
