The first innovative artificial intelligence application produced by this collaboration is the schedule prediction dashboard for the Radiology Operations Module (ROM). This is a digital imaging tool that helps optimize scheduling, reduce costs, and free providers from administrative burdens, allowing more time for clinical patient-provider relationships. ROM is commercially available for healthcare institutions.
ROM (Radiology Operations Module) refers to a module or system used for managing and optimizing the operations of a radiology department. This module is typically part of a Medical Information System, designed to help healthcare institutions effectively manage workflows and resources in the radiology department. Its functions include appointment management, image management, workflow management, resource management, performance indicators, and reporting.

Insights and recommendations driven by AI and machine learning that have actionable value are designed to help improve productivity and management efficiency within departments and enterprises. According to a report by industry market analysis firm Mercer, by 2025, the United States is expected to face a shortage of approximately 446,000 home health aides, 95,000 nursing assistants, 98,700 medical and laboratory technicians, and more than 29,000 nurse practitioners. Health systems will need to rely on technology to help address some of these challenges.
AI Operation Tools Can Address Challenges That Often Threaten Patient Care, Such as Cost of Care Issues and Hospital Inefficiency. The impact can be significant when patients miss appointments, fail to schedule follow-ups, or are late, also known as Missed Care Opportunities (MCO).The algorithm jointly developed by both parties aims to predict MCO and the probability of tardiness, which helps enhance flexibility, streamline administrative operations, improve patient satisfaction, and better accommodate the needs of emergency, inpatient, or scheduled visits. In preliminary tests, the algorithm was able to correctly predict MCO with an accuracy rate as high as 96%, and with a limited false positive rate.
Dr. Keith Dreyer, Chief Data Science Officer of Mass General Brigham, stated that utilizing AI operational tools and machine learning can unite suppliers and streamline datasets. The strategic application of artificial intelligence offers tremendous potential for the future of healthcare, with the technology potentially reducing professional burnout, allowing doctors more time to care for patients, and ultimately leading to better treatment outcomes.
