This year marks the 25th consecutive large-scale private enterprise survey conducted by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, with a total of 8,961 companies participating that have annual revenues exceeding 500 million yuan.The entry threshold for the top 500 private enterprises reached 27.578 billion yuan, increasing by 1.211 billion yuan from the previous year.

Report Shows that in 2022, the Total Revenue of China's Top 500 Private Enterprises was 39.83 Trillion Yuan, with Total Assets of 46.31 Trillion Yuan and a Post-tax Net Profit of 1.64 Trillion Yuan. Among them, JD Group ranked first in the Top 500 Private Enterprises for two consecutive years with a revenue scale of 1.05 trillion yuan, followed by Alibaba and Hengli Group with revenues of 864.5 billion yuan and 611.8 billion yuan respectively. There are 86 enterprises with total assets exceeding 100 billion yuan, of which 11 enterprises have total assets exceeding 500 billion yuan. A total of 28 private enterprises from the Top 500 list have entered the Fortune Global 500.

The total tax payment of the top 500 private enterprises reached 1.25 trillion yuan, accounting for 7.51% of China's total tax revenue. Three companies paid over 40 billion yuan in taxes: Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. (47.362 billion yuan), Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group Co., Ltd. (41.223 billion yuan), and Tencent Holdings Limited (40.612 billion yuan). The total number of employees in the top 500 private enterprises was 10.9721 million, accounting for 1.50% of China's workforce. BYD Company Limited ranked first in employment with 570,100 employees.

The report argues that in 2022, private enterprises focused on new technologies, new business forms, and new models, continuously increased investment in research and development, improved the conversion rate of scientific research achievements, further deepened industry-university-research cooperation, accelerated digital transformation, green and low-carbon development, and brand cultivation, effectively enhancing the quality and level of enterprise development.
