Bayer Announces New Round of Management Layoffs Amid Strategic Restructuring

Recently, foreign media reported that Bill Anderson, the new CEO of Bayer, wants to introduce significant changes to the company, starting with layoffs in the management.

A knowledgeable person revealed that Anderson plans to present the preliminary layoff plan at an upcoming internal strategy meeting. Oliver Kohlahaas, Head of Strategy at Bayer, is among the management personnel being laid off.

It is reported that Kohlahaas has been working at Bayer since 2007 and became the head of strategy in 2018. On September 15, Kohlahaas announced on LinkedIn that it was his last day at Bayer, and he wished Anderson success in leading Bayer.

In July this year, foreign media reported that Anderson intended to spin off the Crop Science business and list it as a company, according to a report by Platow Brief. (See: )

In August of the same year, to cut costs and advance product development, BlueRock Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Bayer, laid off approximately 12% (50 employees). (See: )

Not long after, Bayer successively announced the appointment of Heike Prinz, the former head of commercial operations for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa pharmaceuticals business, as Chief Talent Officer (CTO) and Labor Director, and Juergen Eckhardt, the former Executive Vice President (EVP) and head of "Leaps by Bayer," as the Director of Business Development and Licensing/Open Innovation (BDL/OI) at Bayer Pharmaceuticals.
